This life
The warm rays of the sun
kiss upon the light drapes in my room
I open my eyes to the light,
To the truth of what's past
And the day that's begun
Though this bed I roll off
conceals bitter tears hidden
in its soft, silken cloth,
Faint giggles of my young days
as an unaware girl
can be found in its rough patches
Though these torn slippers I wear
can speak for worn days that were
I recall a time when I raced
down the stairs in its soft comfort
Though these eyes have guided me
through dreams that have betrayed me,
I recall a time when I awakened
to unexpected blessings
It is a mixture of pleasant
and painful times
This life
It is sweet
and a tad bit salty
This life
It is a mixture of tears
and bright smiles
This life
It is vast light
and corners of shadows
This life

Wow, I really love this one. I like the way you shutter back and forth between childhood and the present. Beautiful.
